Abstract

The process of exchanging information, ideas and messages within an organization to achieve a common goal is called organizational. Its significance extends beyond personal aspects and into the broader realm of organizational communication. The objective of this study is to examine the flow of organizational communication at the Cisaat District Office, covering downward communication (from top to bottom), upward communication (from bottom to top), horizontal communication (among colleagues), and diagonal communication (across units or levels). Motivation also plays a crucial role in the context of organizational communication, as it helps stimulate members’ enthusiasm to achieve optimal results and organizational goals. This  study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The interview tools used include interview guides, observation guides, field notes, and mobile phones. Data collection techniques involve observation, interviews, and documentation, along with the application of triangulation techniques. The selection of informants was done through purposive sampling by conducting interviews with the District Head, the District Secretary, and staff members of the Cisaat District Office in Sukabumi Regency. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of organizational communication at the Cisaat District Office follows the same communication flow as proposed by Rochajat Harun. Field data show that not all organizational communication flows are effectively implemented. Only two communication flows—horizontal and diagonal—are well-executed, while upward and downward communication are not properly carried out. In practice, these communication flows often operate ineffectively, which inevitably affects the work motivation of the members.
